Feedback and Concerns

Raising a concern

We want to hear about anything that is not working as it should. Raising a concern will never affect the care a client receives.

In an emergency, call 911.

If you suspect abuse or neglect of an adult in Nova Scotia, call Adult Protection Services at 1-800-225-7225.

How to raise a concern

Contact the Director, Zinnea Atkinson, by phone or in writing:

What happens next

  1. We acknowledge your concern within two (2) business days.
  2. We look into it, which may include speaking with you, the caregiver and anyone else involved.
  3. We send you a written response within ten (10) business days, including any steps we will take.

If the concern is not resolved, either party may propose mediation in Halifax by a mutually acceptable mediator, as set out in our Client Service Agreement.

Other options

Nothing in our process prevents you from contacting:

  • Service Nova Scotia (consumer protection)
  • The Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for Nova Scotia (oipc.novascotia.ca), for privacy concerns
  • The police
  • The Small Claims Court of Nova Scotia
